Setting up ODBC connections

previous  Top  next

An ODBC connection must be set up on every PC (irrespective of whether single-user or server installation) where Untis MultiUser is deployed according to the description in the following chapter. The basic steps, however, are the same.

As a first step, an empty database (i.e. a database in which no tables have been created) must be copied to a central location on a network server. You find this on our homepage: . f you want to use a different database, you will have to create this empty database yourself.

You will then have to make the appropriate entries in the ODBC Data Source Administrator in the control panel.

Note regarding ODBC Connector

Depending on the operating system and database version in use it is possible that the ODBC connection to the 32-bit connector needs to be set up. For further information please go to 64-bit operating system .

Important information for users already working with Untis MultiUser:

The default name for the database and for the ODBC connection was 'gpUntis' up until Untis MultiUser version 2012. From Untis MultiUser version 2013 onwards, this name was changed to 'Untis', which is why all explanations and screenshots refer to this new name. You do not need to change this name in versions from Untis 2013 onwards if you already have an existing (and working) database with an ODBC connection.
